The Mighty Sparrow: “Sparrow Dead” / kenneth pobo

Who killed the sparrow?
We all did.  People
form a single sling/er shot,

bam, the sparrow breaks
on a branch, song
like a pollen dot

drifting over new grass,
dew planning to revolt
against parched plums.

Kenneth Pobo had a new book of poems out in 2008 from WordTech Press called Glass Garden.  His work appears in Southern Ocean Review, Nimrod, Forpoetry.com, Orbis, and elsewhere.
